Dance Workshops
Event Flair offer an exclusive range of workshops and classes, which we host across Auckland and New Zealand or on request, specifically designed for performers wanting to get a taste of the industry, or to uplevel in their training.
Taught by our company director Theresa and aimed at dancers with intermediate or higher level experience, options available are:
Vegas Showgirl Workshop: This gender inclusive, sell out workshop takes dancers through the basics of meet/greet performances including posture, poise, how to move around a performance space, guest photos as well as learning a short dance routine in the style. Yes, you’ll get to wear the headpieces too! If you are wanting to get a taste of working in corporate entertainment, this is the workshop for you.
Broadway Jazz: The industry teaches us that anyone can work hard, anyone can have technique, but performance is what gives the edge to a dancer. This workshop will teach you how to express yourself not only through your face, but through your movements.
Latin Jazz (NEW): The clean lines of jazz mixed with the sass, energy and style of latin - what’s not to love! Many professional contracts involve elements of latin dance in their choreography, so this workshop is designed to bridge the gap between these two styles, in a fun, performative way.
Industry chats: A presentation style workshop giving a first hand experience from one of our team, sharing stories and advice about what it takes to succeed in the New Zealand performing arts industry, as well as tips on how to put your best foot forward in the industry.
About the tutor
Theresa, director at Event Flair, has had an extensive creative career working as a professional performer - teaching workshops in Singapore, directing a musical in the Solomon Islands, and creating and performing for her own company Event Flair - creating memorable and unique entertainment experiences with one of their most recent crowds being 50,000 in size.
In 2023 alone she worked for international artist Doja Cat, was the lead dancer in a performance at NZ’s largest indoor venue, and made international dancesport finals in Melbourne. She has trained with world jazz and latin champions in New York, Toronto and Boston, and brings a fun, passionate energy to every class.
