How to elevate corporate entertainment beyond a door host

Event Flair are the experts at a red carpet welcome in Auckland and across New Zealand. With almost all of the performances we do for corporate functions, gala dinners, brand activations and private events in Auckland and around New Zealand, we like to offer a meet and greet option to make sure guests have the best first impression into your event.

Themed door hosts alone is a great option for events with lower budget and for those wanting a simple or subtle nod to the theme, or for venues without decorations – our performers often act as living decorations in this scenario, especially with our showgirls or body painted performers. More recently, with our focus shifting to demonstrate our performers immense skill set, we’ve been expanding these offerings beyond static door hosts to more interactive entertainment options such as roving performers and freestyle dancers, with a range of costumes from glamourous feathers, beautiful gold adornments and even LED props and costume features!

 Freestyle dancers

Starting with freestyle dancers, our performers will always start with a warm welcome for guests at the door dressed in full costume, to build anticipation and excitement for the event ahead. Once all guests have arrived, the dancers transition to join the DJ – preferably on a stage for maximum visibility and festival style party vibes.

That being said when space is restricted, we have also performed on the floor amongst the crowd. Often guests will start shy on a dancefloor and it usually takes someone brave to get it going. This way, the crowd is shown “how it’s done” and can feel confident to walk on the dancefloor knowing there are people already there warming it up.

Our normal structure for our freestyle dancers is as follows, repeated 3 times:

·         Dancers welcome guests at the door in full, beautiful themed costume, posing for photos and creating a fantastic first impression

·         Perform a 15min freestyle dancing set – high energy and perfectly suited to the music playing

·         Break to change into their next beautiful costume

Freestyle dancing over a choreographed performance works well in a party setting where there is less space and especially in bar and festival environments where playing a set song can be disruptive. Our dancers are well versed in multiple styles, so are able to freestyle confidently to whatever song comes on – you will think they’ve thought up their moves in advance! To get the best of both a freestyle and choreographed performance offering, our dancers can prepare a short routine that goes with any song so the guests still get to enjoy the visual synchronicity that dancers offer, while still being appropriate and fitting to the environment (we highly recommend this option for high end and luxury events).

Roving circus acts

Beyond dancers, our circus department is growing quickly and we now have a range of skilled roving circus performers for Auckland and New Zealand events. These performers are highly skilled, juggling multiple clubs or hoops at a time! Our circus performers are a wonderful addition to networking events, product launches and corporate galas, as they instantly create a talking point. It would be hard to miss someone spinning 5 hoops at once!

These performers work well as:

·         An entry way feature, to wow guests from the moment they arrive

·         On stages beside a DJ (similar to the dancers, we often rotate the two

·         Roving between guests around a venue – so guests get a close up experience of the magic

Our circus acts are experienced in roving or static settings, with a repertoire of tricks that can be performed moving or standing still. Their performances are 3 x 15minute blocks, perfect to fit into a varied event schedule.

Themed actors

For events wanting a more interactive experience, especially those with a movie, storybook theme or brand activation, our roving actors are a perfect choice. We have received glowing feedback for these performers, as they create a truly immersive experience for guests. Our actors are dressed in full costume with attention to every detail, and casually chat with guests in character, like the story has come alive. It’s made for so much fun at events and we love making guests laugh and smile.

Body painted models

Lastly, our body painted models are a striking option for roving event entertainment and making an impact on guest entry. We tailor our designs based on theme, brand and client request, and we love to elevate their looks with wearable art pieces. The great thing about these performers is that they are literally a piece of art that can move, and just like in a gallery, guests will come up in their own time, admire and ask questions about the meaning and intricacy of the work. We choose dancers and movement specialists for our body painted models, as they can create movements and shapes perfectly to the theme, it truly is fascinating to watch.

These performers work best when starting at the door to set a distinguished and elevated tone for the evening, then roaming around a space for an hour or two to set the theme for an event.
