Humble Beginnings
The biggest challenge in the start up of Event Flair was resisting the urge to throw my computer out the window. I think it goes without saying that now, I’m pretty glad I didn’t! However, what the thought of it did make me realise is taking the step between being a ‘word of mouth’ business, to having a professional online presence, was definitely something I needed a hand with.
Event Flair has only recently gone “digital” – our gorgeous new website now published, logo done, and Facebook page launched. Although we’ve been doing events for a while now, putting Event Flair in the public eye was something I put off for quite a long time. This wasn’t out of laziness, but quite honestly, lack of courage – wondering if I really had it in me to make this business work.
Looking back at the all-nighter I spent watching How I Met Your Mother whilst sewing costumes for a last-minute gig, to hours spent picking out trims and fabrics, to again, getting very close to throwing the computer out the window, I should have known that I truly had inherited my mother’s stubbornness. This business was happening – whether I liked it or not!
Since starting up Event Flair, I’ve been absolutely overwhelmed with offers for help from family, colleagues and friends from all over the globe with multiple facets of the business, and I’m so grateful for those who have given up their time and talent to help me make it grow.
It’s been a crazy ride, but I don’t think I would have had it any other way.
Stay tuned!
